This page explains how to delete your HomeLands account and the data associated with it. It applies to the HomeLands mobile app and the data we hold about you. You can request deletion without installing the app or signing in, using the email option below.
Option 1: delete in the app
- Open the HomeLands app and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Open Settings, then Account.
- Select Delete account and confirm when prompted.
Your account is closed immediately and the deletion of associated data then proceeds as described below.
Option 2: request deletion by email
Send an email to privacy@homelandsng.comfrom the email address registered to your account, with the subject "Delete my account". We may ask you to confirm a detail to verify the request. We complete verified requests within 30 days and email you a confirmation.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, email address, phone number, and any photo.
- Your saved properties, bookings, and viewing history.
- Your reviews and messages.
- Push notification tokens and device identifiers.
- If you are an owner: your listings are removed from public view, and their uploaded photos and ownership documents are deleted.
What we keep, and for how long
Some records cannot be deleted immediately because we are legally required to keep them. After your account is deleted we retain only:
- Records of completed transactions and the signed Listing Representation Agreement, kept for the period required by Nigerian tax, financial, and legal recordkeeping rules.
- The minimum information needed to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or comply with a legal obligation.
These records are stored securely, access is restricted, and they are deleted or anonymised once the required retention period ends. Residual copies in encrypted backups are removed on a rolling cycle within 90 days.
Timeline
Account closure is immediate. Deletion of associated data is completed within 30 days of your request, except for the limited records listed above that we are required to retain for longer.
